On August 19, the Putuo District “Government Open Month” special event \u2014 “Entering the Silver-Hair Store, Discussing a Positive View on Aging” \u2014 was held at the Shanghai Silver-Hair Store (Innovative Products Experience Hall of the Senior Expo) on Daduhe Road. More than 10 citizen representatives were invited to step into the city’s first silver-themed store, kicking off a unique exchange on aging topics through immersive, real-life experiences.<\/span><\/p>\n

Inside the store, a “Wish Wall” covered with handwritten sticky notes stood right at the entrance. In the life-size model rooms, participating senior citizens tried out various innovative age-friendly products one by one: standing before a height-adjustable kitchen and bathroom sink to feel the ergonomic design, slowly rising with the support of a walker that can bear up to 100 kilograms, and pacing gently in age-friendly shoes weighing only as much as three eggs \u2014 as if sketching out their own livable future living scenarios in advance.<\/p>\n

The event centered on an immersive urban dialogue around a “positive view on aging,” allowing citizens to feel the warmth of age-friendly technology through tangible experiences and jointly envision a quality, dignified silver-hair life.<\/p>\n<\/section>\n

Unlike traditional shopping malls that pursue “buy and go,” the Silver-Hair Store has written “experience” into the core of its business logic. The good products on the shelves are carefully updated every quarter: voice-controlled height-adjustable sinks, walkers that double as temporary seats, and voice-controlled bathrooms with clever “hidden tricks” \u2014 powered by Huawei’s HarmonyOS, a simple “Xiaoyi, Xiaoyi” command triggers the lights, exhaust fan, and shower mode in response.<\/p>\n<\/section>\n

From applying for rehabilitation assistive device rental subsidies to the policy thresholds for aging-friendly renovations, the staff provided detailed answers\u2014Shanghai residents aged 75 and above, and those aged 60 to 74 with care level 2 or above, can enjoy up to 50% rental subsidies, with free home delivery included; for equipment like nursing beds, buying one costs 10,000 to 20,000 yuan, while renting costs only a few hundred yuan per month.<\/p>\n<\/section>\n
