
On August 17,the Shanghai Book Fair ‘Reading Life · Enjoying Jing’an’ special sharing sessionwas successfully held atthe Shanghai Exhibition Center, bringing the week-long Shanghai Book Fair ‘Reading’ Age Station and ‘Reading Life · Enjoying Jing’an’ themed activities to a climax. This event was hosted bythe Jing’an District Aging Work Committee Office and the Jing’an District Civil Affairs Bureau, organized by Shanghai Silver Economy Trade Development Co., Ltd., and supported by the Jing’an Sub-branch of Bank of Shanghai. Taking the 2026 Shanghai Book Fair as an opportunity, it responded to the spiritual and cultural needs and practical life needs of the silver-haired group, gathered forces from government, enterprises, and society, broke down resource barriers among reading culture, civil welfare, inclusive finance, and the silver economy industry, and innovatively created an integrated elderly-friendly scenario that combines spiritual nourishment and convenience services, building a new practical platform for improving the regional active aging service system, enriching the spiritual and cultural life of the elderly, and enhancing the quality of life of the silver-haired group.
The event was divided intothe afternoon of the 17thorganizedthe special sharing session (“Reading Life · Enjoying Jing’an”)and the public-benefit booth running throughout the book fair(12th–18th) (“Enjoy Reading, Enjoy Quality Time”)two major sections, with the latter continuing to serve until the fair closes.

At the event, the Jing’an District Aging Office, together with the Shanghai Bank Jing’an Sub-branch, launchedthe city’s first “Happy Senior Companion Card“. Under the joint witness of Yuan Pengbin, Director of the Jing’an District Civil Affairs Bureau, and Yang Chen, President of the Shanghai Bank Jing’an Sub-branch, the card design was officially unveiled. Subsequently, the two leaders presented the cards on-site to representatives of elderly care workers and community elderly assistance volunteers from Jing’an District. The card, with the core concept of“You care for the elderly, we care for you”, focuses on frontline elderly service groups and offersexclusive financial benefits and public welfare rights——On the financial side, it covers multiple fee reductions, green channels at branches, and customized products; on the life side, it integrates elderly-friendly consumption discounts, home aging-adaptation consultation, stair-climbing machine services, commuting subsidies, summer childcare parent-child classes, and other diverse care measures, effectively easing the commuting and family care burdens of frontline workers, so that loving dedication is rewarded and career growth is supported, empowering with the warmth of inclusive finance.frontline workers in elderly care services.

During the same period, the “Silver Economy Living Room” takes silver-haired reading as its entry point, leveraging the public setting of the book fair to build a professional exchange platform for government-enterprise collaboration and supply-demand matching, focusing on“Reading Age – A New Way to Open Up Silver-Haired Entertainment”, and will exchange ideas on topics such as the cultural supply for silver-haired life, the upgrade of entertainment consumption, and industry innovation empowerment, helping related enterprises share resources, expand cooperation, build brands, broaden markets, activate the development momentum of the silver economy, and thereby release social benefits for people’s livelihood. Based on the spiritual and cultural needs of the elderly, it promotes the transformation of industrial resources into services that benefit the people, building an elderly-friendly environment where the elderly can learn and enjoy themselves.

During the seven-day book fair, the ‘Enjoy Reading with Quality Goods · Time at Ease’ public welfare booth will be open to citizens simultaneously, fully meeting the needs of senior readers visiting the fair. The exhibition area showcases age-friendly products such as mobility aids, reading assistance devices, smart health and wellness equipment, image preservation devices, and recreational equipment, with professional staff providing one-on-one operation demonstrations and adaptation guidance to help senior readers ‘walk easily, see clearly, and browse longer’.

The exhibition area also features acivil affairs policy consultation service window, where on-site staff provide one-on-one explanations ofadult guardianship, rehabilitation assistive device rental subsidies, and otherpublic welfare policies, and provide application assistance, achieving ‘one visit to the book fair, multiple conveniences.’ The exhibition area also features a dedicated section for senior-friendly reading materials, displaying practical books on elderly health maintenance, home care, anddementiacare, creating a silver-haired service micro-space that integrates reading, experience, and errands.
